The Third Eye

No. No. I am not talking of Shiva the Destroyer. All I am hinting at is the outside perspective that a different pair of eyes can bring to a situation. This happened at work yesterday. A colleague of mine was ready to give up. She was trying to get a test case to work and was at her wits end. She seemed to be doing the steps outlined in the set up correctly yet for some strange reason was not seeing the results she needed. She was convinced she was doing something wrong.

My cube being adjacent to hers, I could not help but share her frustration. Watching her explain what was driving her nuts, I queried tentatively “Are you sure that the application works correctly?” She was dumbfounded. “What do you mean? She threw her hands up in the air and went on to check if that was a possibility.

On her way home that evening, she stopped by smiling from ear to ear. “It worked” she said. Her smile was infectious and I had a smile playing on my face for a while too. It is funny how simple things like this have a tremendous impact on our daily lives. If only we could take a step back when something flummoxes us and look at it in a detached sense, the answers are right there staring at us.

  5. So true, a third eye helps most of the times to open up our mind that we are ignoring the obvious solution, but, at times, it can also pose to become an interfering/intrusive one, depending on the situation.
