Thoughtful Thursdays - Edition One (eat pray love)

Rushing home from work, I realized I had less than three hours to get through the book so as to have my review up before my self imposed deadline. Dinner done in a flash, I sat down with the book almost weary of having to read through it. I knew it was a losing battle. I would never be able to get through it. Turning over the first few pages, I turned to the last page as I usually do to read up any blurb on the author. I am glad I did. I found that Elizabeth Gilbert lives in Philadelphia. Like somehow, that connection was enough for me to power through the book.

I made it through the first 50 odd pages and loved it. I really mean that. A literary masterpiece - it is not. What it is to me however, is the honest voice of a person losing and finding herself. In the first few chapters, she already had me hooked. It is one of those books you can read and relate to certain words or emotions they convey. I am sure I am not going to be done with the book tonight to have a review up tomorrow. I apologize for that. I do know that I will have one up by the weekend.

The point of this post is to remind those who had intended to read to go ahead. Even if you haven’t started this far, there is time. Read the book, write your review and send me an email at lakshmusings[dot]gmail[dot]com with the permalink to your post. I will have it up here this Monday.

For those of you who did not get to see the original email describing Thoughtful Thursdays. It is here.

  1. Oh Laksh, I miscalculated. For some reason, I thought it was due next Thursday and was planning to get this done in the first half of next week. I am swamped and I can’t even think of reading the rest of the book (finished 1/3), let along write a review about it, by this Monday.

  2. I’m on page 146. About 1/2 a book to go still. Hopefully, will be done by Monday.

  3. I’m in the process of reading it too, but I don’t think I can get it done by this Monday - but I’ll still enjoy reading the reviews :)

  4. Oopsie!

Complete-a forgotten! Maybe just maybe I can manage it over the weekend.. I hope.. God willing :-)

  5. @SK: I will change the date to May 12th so as to give all of us time to get the reviews in. This is not some contest where we have to stick to rules. Whatever works for all of us. Game then?
@Spillay: Looking forward to your review.
@Bavani: You can do it. I will extend it to May 12th since I need to get through it as well :) Waiting to read your review.
@Laks: You have time too! One week extension :)

  6. Wagon load of thank yous. You are right, it’s not a contest, but a commitment nevertheless.

  7. @Suman: Most welcome. I totally agree. Can’t wait to get through the book.
