Bye Bye Carly Smithson
It is strange that I feel compelled to type this. I am a closet fan of American Idol. I cringe at the overly long show that still has the power to keep me glued to the television. For one who has no idea of what the different genres of western music means other than of course Country music, this show has in some sense made me familiar with some part of popular culture.
This season specially converted me. The reason - Carly Smithson. Right from the auditions through Hollywood night and there on, I cheered this bubbly girl on. She seemed to stand for everything I liked and rooted for. A bright sunny personality, great voice, maturity and a stage presence. I loved her so much that I voted for her each week. No other contestant has captured my imagination so much. So, when she was voted off rather unfairly last night. I felt very disappointed. I was shaking my head in frustration the voice in my head saying “No fair!!!”.
Irrespective of who wins this season, It will always be Carly for me. May be she will go on to greater heights. May be she will not. I hope she does. This is my tribute to this lovely girl from Ireland. Bye Bye Carly! I hope you make it really big.
I also feel the same way if one of my favourites get booted off AI.That show has some kind of power over viewers.
Now about carly smithson: It’s better to get voted off the show.That last two idols are not really doing good.Also if you win you are bound by a few years contract with AI and you are not free to choose your songs and all.If she is really talented she will make it big.Any contestant who get constantly trashed by simon is sure to get voted off sometime.But on the bright side look at where jennifer hudson is now,a oscar winning actress who was disliked by simon.
Personally carly is not my favourite this season. I think one of david’s is going to win.But brooke white is my favourite.She may reach the finals.

I think Carly will make it big. Agree with laksh, she has huge stage presence.
I think it is one of the davids..cutie or the rockie.

American Idol: Carly Smithson Booted…
Ok I admit it, the girlfriend and I are huge fans of American Idol. I never thought that I’d get into a show like this because I’ve always had the “if there isn’t guitar, I’m not listening” mentality, but this season…
My husband was also thinking that Carly was going to win this season. I like David Archuletta, he is also mature and has a good voice for 17. Somehow I don’t like Castro, he is charming, but I feel that his singing is not “American Idol” worthy. You never know, what will happen. I didn’t like Taylor Hicks either, he did win the year before last. I liked Melinda Dolittle last season, wow she had an excellent range but she didn’t even make the top 2. Ultimately I’m watching the show for Simon and Ryan. Both have a wonderful timing sense.

@Madhu: True! I hated Taylor Hicks and there no sign of him after AI. Same with Melinda last season. Not sure about Ryan. Simon rocks!!
For some weird reason, I was never hooked on to any of these kind of shows ever…there or here. For a while I watched Top Chef, Project Runway, Dancing with the Stars. Don’t watch any of such shows here either.
Like coffee, can live without these
If at all I watch, I would just appreciate the talent if present and stop there.
